MARKET OVERVIEW

With an installed generation capacity of 1,457MW for a population of over 55 million Tanzania’s installed capacity falls roughly 500MW short of the country’s peak demand. Despite an abundance of solar and wind resources, Tanzania’s installed capacity is made up entirely of hydro and thermal sources. Tanzania seeks to vastly increase its solar and wind generation capacity while playing a key role in the region as a member of the East African Power Pool (EAPP).
