JCM Power Hands over Katawa Fever Clinic

JCM Power is dedicated to the development, construction, and operation of high impact renewable energy projects in emerging markets. In addition, JCM is dedicated to creating specific plans in line with local community needs.  One of JCM’s focus areas is the promotion of access to health in the Kanzimbe community, within close proximity to our Salima Solar Project in Malawi.

The clinic will be used for COVID-19 testing as well as cervical smear testing; a need identified by the local community who would normally have to travel great distances to access such services. The Katawa Fever Clinic is estimated to support approximately 10 500 community members.

JCM Power handed over the newly built Katawa Fever Clinic to the Salima District Local Authority and the Kanzimbe Community. The facility was accepted on behalf of the District by the District Council Chairperson: Councilor Letan Mthaphwi. In his remarks, Counciller Mthaphwi said that the clinic will help the community to easily access health services. The District Health Committee Chairperson: Councillor Asiyatu Chakwera, the Ward Councilor Yousuf Chizonga, Honourable Gerard Kapiseni Phiri MP, the Director of Planning and Development, the Director of Health, and Social Services for the District, and the Senior Chief Kalonga were also present at the handover ceremony.
