JPL

Jhimpir Power (Private) Limited (JPL) is JCM’s second addition to the Asian platform and is a 50MW wind farm located in Jhimpir, Sindh. JPL was developed by Burj Capital while JCM acquired a controlling stake alongside FMO and Impact Fund Denmark (formerly IFU) in January 2021.

The project achieved commercial operations on 16 March, 2018. The JPL project consists of 29 wind turbine generators each with a rated output of 1.7MW.

KEY FACTS

PEOPLE

20 Full Time Employees at the end of 2024, with 20% being female. While our share of women in the workforce is low, we continue to prioritise women in employment opportunities, develop skills-focused programmes that target women, and provide our female employees with a voice and a safe space to engage in the workplace.

COMMUNITY

Our CSR strategy at JPL is based on the findings of a community needs assessment and our initiatives are focused on healthcare (including water and sanitation), education and electricity. We currently provide 25 women with vocational skills training and 60 children with education.

ENVIRONMENT

In 2023 we spearheaded a pilot project for the treatment of wastewater using constructed wetlands. The treated wastewater is used for irrigation of forage crops which support our beekeeping enterprise.

HEALTH & SAFETY

The JPL project achieved a top poistion in the Pakistan wind energy sector with a score of 95% in the 2023 Annual HSE Performance Evaluation by the Pakistan National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
